Memories at the Drive-In

This week we were on Spring Break and we went to Illinois where I was raised. I saw this sign for the Drive-In that we used to go to when I was growing up. The memories this sign brought back were so nice. My parents used to take my brother and me to the drive-in every Friday night. Mother would fill a grocery sack with popcorn and make a pan of fudge to take with us. We had an 8 pack of Pepsi in big cold 16 oz. bottles. It was a feast! Jeff and I would be in our pajamas and we had a pallet in the back of our 1959 Ford station wagon. That way if we got sleepy during the second movie we could just lay down and sleep. Now that I think about it - that was probably Mother and Daddy's plan all along! LOL

Then as I got older I kept going to the drive-in with friends. Janet's dad used to drop us off there and we would sit in the chairs that they had inside the concession stand building. There was also a playground down front that we used to play on before the movies started. I love to remember those days. :)

Sadly the drive-in is closed now and Janet said the sign will be gone soon. I am glad that I got a picture of the sign before it is gone like so many things from my childhood.
